Staying On Top Of Water Hygiene In 2022

2022, where has last year gone! Moving into a new year people like to make resolutions, so we thought as a business we’d join in. Fortunately for you, our new year’s resolution has been the same since we started the business – Ensure the safety of our customers through the water hygiene of their water systems.

In this blog, we’re going to talk about the main services we provide to stay on top of water hygiene in 2022.

Why Is Water Hygiene Important?

Poor water hygiene can lead to serious problems for you and your business. The most serious cause could result in death. Unhygienic water spreads diseases and bacteria throughout the water system.

A commercial or residential property that requires access to water, more than likely uses a manmade water storage system. A water tank ensures constant access to water, but in turn, can result in problems if the system isn’t maintained or serviced.

Water can become contaminated for many reasons. Both hot and cold water systems can become affected, when the system becomes contaminated, it can lead to serious disease and illness by whoever consumes or inhales the water.

The disease and illness which comes from the water being contaminated are called legionella disease. This disease comes to the surface (literally) when preventative measures aren’t in place.

Preventing Legionella

So, what is legionella?

Legionellosis is a collective term for diseases caused by legionella bacteria. Legionella bacteria can cause all kinds of diseases if it is consumed such as Pontiac fever and Lochgoilhead fever. Legionnaire’s disease is the most dangerous disease that Legionellosis can cause and in some cases can be fatal.

To prevent Legionella, Clarion Water thoroughly risk assesses your water tank. We ensure pictures are taken and all the important data is collected.

The risk assessment allows us to know your water system inside out to determine the best outcome and solution for us to take. We will give you all the options and it’s for you to choose with one best suits your business.

Common Types Of Cold Water Storages

There are several types of water storage tanks available. Each has their advantages and disadvantages depending upon the system and circumstances:

GRP Cold Water Tanks

Glass Reinforced Plastic cold water tanks are in our opinion the best water storage tank available. GRP is a strong and durable material that won’t rust or corrode. Because of their sectional panels, these tanks can be built in any size or shape you require.

Steel Cold Water Tanks

Steel cold water tanks were the go-to option before GRP water tanks were available. Braithwaite Steel Tanks are particularly popular and usually feature press steel sectional panels.

Galvanised steel is also a popular option as the material will withstand rust and erosion for several years.

Concrete Cold Water Tanks

No surprise to any of us, concrete is a very durable and strong material. Therefore, many people and businesses like this option because of it. The biggest disadvantage to point out is its cost.
